Carmel / Carmel Valley

Let’s get control of our water future.

Let’s get control of our
water future.

As a 25-year resident of Carmel Valley, I’ve seen firsthand how the uncertainty created by Cal Am’s skyrocketing water costs angers and frightens friends and neighbors. Will they be forced to move from the community they love?

TIME FOR CRITICAL DECISIONS

In 2018 we passed Measure J. It required the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District (MPWMD) to determine if a Cal Am buyout is feasible and if so to proceed. In 2019 their consultants determined that a buyout is feasible. But before the MPWMD can move in that direction, many critical issues must be reviewed and decided by their Board of Directors.

THE EXPERIENCE TO LEAD

Working on the successful Measure J campaign and the Measure O campaign that preceded it, I acquired a deep understanding of the water issues facing the Peninsula. Protecting the Carmel River is critical and we’ve made great progress with the addition of a new water supply from the award-winning Pure Water Monterey project. We are getting very close to our legal draw from the river.

Solving the pressing issues that confront us of affordability and environmental sustainability inspired me to step up. As your representative for Carmel and Carmel Valley on the MPWMD board, I will carefully consider the facts, not the politics, of the decisions that come before the Board.

My scientific training as a marine biologist and the management abilities I developed over the last 24 years as the Artistic and Education Director for Chamber Music Monterey Bay have prepared me to make the fact-based, fiscally responsible decisions required during this critical phase.

A more affordable, environmentally responsible and sustainable water supply is a vision we all share. With your support, I will work hard to help make it a reality.
